From Bali, you will need to get to Kupang the capital of Nusa Tengara Timur, where there are a number of options for getting to Rote.

These options are subject to change at the last minute, especailly if there are storms as the ferries might stop running completely, so please be sure to check both sectors before booking and keep an eye on the weather systems before you are look to arrive. Planes are more likely to run, but watch out for those travelling with surfboards as you might get extra charges and have restrictions on the lengths of the boards, so we suggest you inform the airlines of these surfboard fees whilst booking flights. Alternatively, we can help arrange for your boards to go by ferry and meet you at extra costs and we will need 24 hours notice.

Also please note that during storms there can be travel disruptions, so you might need to be ready to stay a few extra days, although we can help with creative options for you should you wish to explore these.

Note for travelers with surfboards: If using a cheaper board service via ferry, book your flights to Kupang and Rote separately to avoid issues with baggage access during transit.
Tip: If only some travelers have surfboards, consider splitting bookings. One person can handle surfboard baggage while others travel direct.

Boards are picked up in Kupang and delivered to you the same night in Rote.

Costs vary depending on how many boards you’re sending. The more boards the cheaper per bord price will be.

Please make sure to buy your ticket so that it is 2 bookings:
1) Bali to Kupang
2) Kupang to Rote

If you are looking at sending boards back to Kupang from Rote, please book flights separately as well. Boards will need to be sent the day before you leave, and need to be ready at 9am at the latest.
